Dr. Wong Ee Phin is an Associate Professor with the School of Biological & Environmental Sciences in the University of Nottingham Malaysia and the Principal Investigator of an elephant-centric research project, Management & Ecology of Malaysian Elephants (MEME). My research team has been studying Asian elephants since 2012 until now. I contribute as well to international research communities by serving as the Deputy Chair of the IUCN Species Survival Commission Asian Elephant Specialist Group (AsESG), and I am an active member of IUCN Asian Elephant Transport Working Group (AsETWG) looking at the impacts of linear infrastructures (e.g. roads and railways) on elephant movement, IUCN Human- Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence Specialist Group, and the Elephant Conservation Group. I have been researching on elephants for the past 13 years and have two decades of experience being involved in the wildlife conservation effort in Malaysia.
